Sipping Sopwell Cocktail
One of 12 signature cocktails, the Sipping Sopwell draws inspiration from the history books, when nuns used to dip crusts of bread into the water of the holy well, and give them to travellers who were on their way to the shrine of St Albans. Swapping holy water for other spirits and bread for biscuits and we present the Sipping Sopwell for you to try and create at home.
Ingredients:
50ml Dark Rum
25ml Gingerbread syrup
25ml Kahlua
1 shot (25ml) Espresso
Garnish:
Crushed biscotti
Syrup
Coffee beans
Coffee grains or Chocolate powder
Method:
Place a small amount of ginger syrup on a side dish and upturn a cocktail glass so rim is covered.
Crush biscotti and rotate rim of glass in crushed biscuit to cover – set aside
Place ice in a shaker to make cool
Add Dark Rum, Gingerbread syrup and Kahlua to tumbler
Add contents to shaker (with ice) and shake well
Sieve over cocktail glass with biscuit rim
Garnish with coffee beans, and coffee grains or chocolate powder depending on preference.
