Get in Shape this Summer
With so many people jetting off on their holidays, it’s never too late to get some exercises on your radar to tone and firm up before your long-awaited getaway. Our Fitness Manager, Laszlo shares his top exercises to get both your mind and body in shape this Summer.
Stomach/core: Usually this is the most difficult…
Create a calorie deficit for weight loss and practice Pilates for core strength at least 2-3 times a week for 15 minutes or even daily if you can. If it’s getting easier, venture into more advanced exercises and increase your sessions.
Arms: Good news- if there is plenty of stimulation you get results quickly.
Get back to basics with triceps dips, press ups, lateral raises and shoulder press’.
3-4 sets of 15-20 repetitions with body weight and dumbbells.
Get a simple arm circuit going at least 3x a week for 20minutes and until you feel your muscles are challenged.
Thighs and bums: Prepare for hard work but it will be worth it
Thighs and glutes are easy to train as we use our legs all the time, however walking your dog daily won’t be enough. These are the biggest muscles in our body, they need a lot of stimulation and a heavy workload to tone, firm and increase in size however it is still the basic squats, lunges, leg presses, leg extensions and lifts which are standing the test of time.
The key is workload, sets and repetitions. For size you need to do more workload such as 4x 6-10reps, for toning and firming you need to do higher repetitions of 3-4x 15-20. If you are not a gym-goer, you can still do most exercises with your body weight or dumbbells.
But if you are not a fan of any of the above simply trying some yoga and mindfulness for inner peace and calm will improve your overall mental health.
Here at Sopwell House this August, we will be running an Outdoor Yoga & Mindfulness Workshop with yoga instructor, Tawny Cortes exclusively for our Cottonmill members on Tuesday 30th August, 17:30-19:00. To book on this class either click here to send us an email or speak to a member of the spa team.
My message is to you is to enjoy your holiday with or without a beach body!
