Day in the life of a Cottonmill member
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a member of Cottonmill, the UK’s first private members’ spa? Well today we’re bringing you a little insight into a typical day in the life of a member. For some it’s all about our world class gym and the fitness element of being a member, for other’s it’s all about recharging and winding down in the spa, a pure pamper experience.
Over to one of our Cottonmill members, Liz.
‘Depending on what work I have on that day and my schedule, I’ll usually arrive at Cottonmill around midday to head to the gym. To some, this might seem odd as it’s not at the beginning or end of the day, but it works for me and I find stepping away from my day, in the middle of the day to have time for myself, very motivating.
When I arrive, I check in with the lovely front desk team before grabbing a pre-workout coffee in The Sitting Room, fuel for a serious sweat session. I’ve been working with my personal trainer Laszlo for a while now, who has set me up with strength focused fitness plan. He’s been a great support and I’m already on my way to hitting my goals! While we’re on the topic, the new gym is aaaa-mazing. The new technogym equipment is like nothing I’ve ever used before, it retains all my fitness information, assists me with getting the most out of each rep and has a timer countdown between sets, it’s like another personal trainer hidden inside the equipment – I’m a big fan. Anyway, 45 minutes later and I’m done!
It’s then time to hit the showers and work out if I’ve got enough time for a swim and a little ‘me’ time. If I do, I’ll usually attempt a few lengths in the pool before it’s time to relax in the hot tub for a minute or 20… I’ll always try and squeeze in 10 minutes in the sauna at the end of my trip to the spa because it makes me feel incredible and gives me time to ‘just be’.
On weekend’s or if I find myself at Cottonmill nearer the evening, I’ll usually bring a book to read by the pool. It’s the perfect place to get lost in the pages of a good novel because it’s always quiet and that’s just how I like it. However on days where the sun is shining, you’ll find me out on the terrace topping up the vitamin D – heavenly.
I’d say a huge perk of my Cottonmill membership is having it all in one place. I can enjoy exactly what I feel like, beit a workout or some down time, and then have everything on hand to be able to continue my day when I leave. It’s the calm in my sometimes mad and busy world and I don’t know how I’d cope without having this space.’
