For residents at Sopwell House

Easter Trail - First clue

First Clue

Long before the hotel, long before the guests, this land belonged to nuns. They baked bread here, soaking and softening the dough by hand. The Old English word for soaking? 'Sop.'

Right here, where you're standing, is what they “sopped” it in. The question then is what would they have called this well? (And the name of the house that grew from it.)

REMEMBER: There are 4 locations and 4 riddles to solve. Each riddle unlocks a word which forms a phrase. Once completed head to reception to claim your prize. If you get stuck you can always ask reception for a hint or two!

Well done. Now head to the lawn. Near to water that falls, and a bridge you can cross, something small hangs from a big tree. It wasn't built for you; it was built for something that sings. Find it for your next clue.
