We are licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies for up to 300 guests. This gives us the ability to host your entire wedding event within our grounds, significantly simplifying the logistics of your day. You can take your vows in one of our elegant event function suites or outside in our magnificent gardens and grounds.

We understand that every couple has their own thoughts about what will make it perfect for them. Whether you are thinking ‘grand and formal’, or ‘intimate and relaxed’, we will work with you to create your special day.

St Alban Suite

Our largest function suite, the St Alban suite is a magnificent column-free ballroom that is perfect for large indoor ceremonies and wedding receptions.

The Mountbatten

Named after the former owner and a well-known British statesman Lord Mountbatten, this suite is versatile and can be used for smaller ceremonies and receptions. Boasting glamorous historical photographs and views onto the gardens.

Lady Patricia & Princess Alice

Ideal for a more intimate wedding ceremony or reception. Bright, airy with views over the gardens and carp pond.

Princess Victoria & Prince Louis

A great sized space, with french doors onto the terrace and views across the fields, the Princess Victoria or Prince Louis can accommodate wedding receptions for up to 100 guests.

Thank you so much for facilitating a 1st rate wedding day for us at Sopwell House. It will always  be a special memory for Susie and I and our family.

The challenges for all of us to hold any wedding ceremony and lunch were considerable during this crazy Covid time. Sopwell had just opened again ,but had done a much better job than the Grove in refurbishing your hotel and maintaining  your lovely gardens. And you had to contend with a flood just before our big day!  Nonetheless you all delivered as a team, with a special thank you to you, Gopi/team  and Ludovic on the day. A well delivered intimate wedding event.
