Ultimate Chocolate Fudge Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 400g sour cream
- 260g water
- 260g oil
- 3 large eggs
- 450g plain flour
- 700g caster sugar
- 5g salt
- 80g cocoa powder
- 7g baking powder
- 7g bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
Instructions
- Set your oven to 160°C (320°F). Prepare your cake tins by greasing and lining them with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the plain flour, caster sugar, salt, cocoa powder, baking powder, and bicarbonate of soda until well combined.
- Gradually add the sour cream, water, oil, and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until you have a smooth, lump-free batter. You can use a stand mixer or hand whisk—just ensure not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly between your prepared cake tins. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the tins for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting or serving.
Serving Suggestions
